Colas receive highest ever award from RoSPA

Colas Limited has received its highest ever health and safety award from RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) in recognition of its practices and achievements in helping employees, clients and contractors get home safely at the end of the working day.

Colas achieved the Winner in the Construction Engineering Industry Sector in the internationally-renowned RoSPA Health and Safety Awards, the longest-running industry awards scheme in the UK.

The majority of awards from RoSPA are non-competitive and mark achievement at merit, bronze, silver and gold levels. Colas has previously won numerous gold awards, but winning the competitive award for the construction engineering sector is a prestigious first.

Pat Sheehan, Head of Health & Safety, said: “This is an achievement to be proud of for Colas and for all of our employees.

“Previously we have won a number of Gold Awards from RoSPA but this achievement goes above and beyond that and reflects our desire to continue to promote and work to the best health and safety standards.”

Julia Small, RoSPA’s Head of Qualifications, Awards and Events, said: “The RoSPA Awards are the most highly-respected in the health and safety arena, with almost 2,000 entrants every year, and allow organisations to prove excellence in the workplace, demonstrating a commitment to the wellbeing of not only employees but all those who interact with it.”
