Portsmouth PFI Team Collaborate on Major junction Upgrade
The Portsmouth PFI team have recently completed a comprehensive package of works at one of Portsmouth’s busiest junctions. As part of the Lifecycle Replacement (LCR) Works programme carried out under the PFI, the project, taking place on the Marriot Junction, a busy junction leading in and out of the city, included the complete replacement and refurbishment of all traffic signals, as well as the replacement of street lighting columns and full carriageway resurfacing. These upgrades not only extend the lifespan of the street furniture but also aim to improve traffic flow and enhance safety for all road users.
As one of only three primary routes on and off Portsea Island, the timing of the work was strategically planned in collaboration with National Highways and major utility companies to prevent any overlap with other significant planned projects, as well as close collaboration with emergency services and local businesses to ensure effective coordination and minimise disruption throughout the project.
