About the Role
A day in the life of this role will see you responsible for the management of key project deliverables including client expectations, supporting contract commitments whilst ensuring the compliance with all quality procedures and safe working practices, undertaking all works to the highest possible Health, Safety and Environmental standards, whilst safeguarding the wellbeing of all employees.
The contractual location for the role is our Birmingham office but the project Is the East West Rail Alliance and runs from Oxford across to Cambridge so you’ll spend your time across this part of the country.
You’ll act within financial authorities, in respect of contract revenue, expenditure and budgets in line with operational forecasts. You’ll drive and deliver cost efficiency and self-delivery through the promotion of the One Colas culture.
As Project Manager, you’ll promote and enhance safety awareness across all operational delivery, encouraging a zero tolerance to unsafe acts and a zero target for LTIs. You’ll ensure that all operations carried out within our area of responsibility are undertaken with full regard for the safety and welfare of visitors, other members of staff and yourself
You’ll provide leadership, motivation and direction to project delivery teams. Stimulating and driving intercompany relationships and trading. Efficient management and utilisation of all regional / company resource through planning and effective dialogue with peers / clients will be a ‘go to’ skill set.
And you’ll develop and update regular activity programs for all contract responsibilities in accordance with client requirement while maintaining a professional approach, positively reflecting the image of the company.

You’ll ideally have a background of delivering highways and enabling works projects in a civil engineering environment.
We’re looking for strong leadership, organisational and planning skills, demonstration of good contractual and commercial awareness and someone who is results and achievement focused.
- Appropriate ONC/HNC/HND qualification in Construction / Civil Engineering
- Desirable GCSE Maths / English or equivalent – A to C
- SMSTS / IOSH (Safety Related Qualification)
