As well as the manufacture of ITS equipment, Colas are able to offer a first class, fully flexible installation and commissioning service to suit our client's works programme. All of our products come with a 12 month warranty from the date of installation.

Contract Award - M4/M5 Managed Motorways

Colas' ITS department have been awarded the technology installation contract for message signs and indicators on the M4/M5 Managed Motorway Project.

The award follows on from our previous successes in this area, including the M42 pilot scheme in 2004, the M25 J13 to J15 scheme in 2006 and the BBMM scheme from 2009 to 2011.

Starting in May 2012 the project includes the installation, testing and commissioning of 155 Colas AMI and 34 Colas MS4 message signs, together with associated roadside controllers, ambient light monitors and cabling. The contract duration is expected to be in the region of 6 months, with the majority of works taking place during weekend night shifts. 

 

Colas Adapt To Changing Circumstances

In order to permit the use and maintenance of new technology message signs on existing portal gantries, Colas ITS in partnership with Nusteel Structures have designed a bespoke mounting frame for the Version 2 MS 2x12 sign type. Quickly and easily fitted to the gantry sign platform, the frame provides mounting points compatible with all manufacturers versions of the sign, and allows full access to the rear of the Colas unit providing for maintenance without the need for expensive traffic management.

The bracket is fully approved by the Highways Agency, and over 30 existing gantries on the M25 between J8 and J10 have already been retro-fitted with new technology using this method.
