Microasphalt
Our Microasphalt process is a cold applied low carbon
alternative compared to conventional surfacing treatments.
The process offers the use of a range of versatile materials,
depending on the clients' specifications. Bitutex, Bitumac, Ralumac
1000, Ralumac 2000 and Ralumac HT (High Texture)all offer unique
engineering and application benefits.
Colas' Microasphalt Surfacing treatment is accredited to the
National Sector Scheme 13b and ISO 9001.
Depending on the materials specified Microasphalt can be
utilised on Carriageways, Airfields and Car Parks.
Using bespoke plant and equipment; all materials are combined
in-situ and applied on any given surface. The range of materials
offered allows the filling of any ruts and deformations in a single
pass.
The design of the application provides a reduction in traffic
noise, improved appearance and skid resistance and a high
resistance to rutting. Through forming a protective sealant over
the existing surface, reducing deterioration of the existing
surface and increasing skid resistance the process offers clients
enhanced durability and a uniformed finish.
Bitutex
Bitutex is a high quality slurry surfacing ideal for roads and
car parks where it provides a clean, dense sealed surface as an
alternative to surface dressing or as a pad coat.
Bitutex offers
- Excellent adhesion to a wide variety of surfaces
- Enhances durability
- Resistance to the ingress of water and potential frost
damage
- Trafficable within 15-20 minutes
Bitumac
Bitumac is ideal for use where a hard wearing and longer lasting
surface is required. Suitable sites include urban and rural roads,
which are subjected to greater levels of traffic.
Bitumac offers
- Improved skid resistance
- Uniformed finish
- High performance
- Resistance to the ingress of water and potential frost
damage
- Reduced traffic noise
- Trafficable within 20 - 30 minutes
Ralumac
Ralumac is a cold applied polymer modified treatment suitable
for a wide variety of sites particularly appropriate for restricted
sites with limited access and high speed sites with heavier levels
of traffic.
Ralumac offers
- Longer life expectancy
- The ability to fill ruts and deformations in a single pass
- High resistance to rutting
- Reduced traffic noise
- Reduced site occupation
Ralumac 2000
Ralumac 2000 is a cold applied 0/6mm wearing course which
incorporates a polymer modified bitumen emulsion and cellulose
fibres, fibreglass can be added as a SAMI to reduce the effect of
reflective cracking, with high quality aggregates.
Ralumac 2000 offers
- Ideal for high traffic volumes and speeds
- Enhanced laying capacity
- Greater resistance to cracking
- Meshtrack can be used to provide greater strength and
durability
Ralumac HT
Ralumac HT is a cold applied surfacing designed and developed by
Colas Ltd. The material specification has been enhanced and Ralumac
HT also incorporates the use of cellulose fibres. Fibreglass can be
added as a SAMI to reduce to reduce the effect of reflective
cracking.
Ralumac HT offers
- Ideal for high traffic volumes and speeds (BBA HAPAS
Approved)
- High texture finish and quality
- Greater strength and durability
- High resistance to rutting
Benefits
- Versatile surfacing treatment
- Cold mix properties reduce energy consumption and carbon
emissions
- Resolves wheel track rutting and deformations
- Specialist machines carry all the components of the treatment
and can complete them in a single pass Double Coat Application
- Low noise characteristics
- Can withstand heavily trafficked roads and principle
routes
- Uniformed and sealed finish.
Footway maintenance
For footway maintenance we offer footway slurry and Fibredec. Our footway slurry treatments are
Bitutex FP, Paveseal and Pavecoat .
Bitutex FP is a rapid setting hand applied slurry surfacing,
hand applied the cost effective treatment consists of a blend of
bitumen emulsion and aggregate, mixed to specific proportions.
Paveseal is apremium fibre enhanced slurry surfacing suitable
for sites which require regulating and for the refurbishment of
worn concrete surfaces.
Pavecoat is a cold applied, polymer modified, fibre enhanced
slurry surfacing suitable for sites with significant levels of
deterioration. Pavecoat can be applied to all types of asphalt,
macadam and worn concrete surfaces.
Fibredec consists of a matrix of chopped glass fibres between
two layers of bitumen emulsion. The surface is immediately dressed
with aggregate. The glass fibres, which are chopped in situ be
specifically designed applicator vehicles, give tensile strength to
the surface and resist cracking.
