Working with the private sector we have to date provided a diverse range of services and products. Typical works and contracts include;

• Larger projects with private airport operator companies
• Footpath and carriageway maintenance and repairs for utilities
• Traffic Management services for utilities companies and private event organisers
• Design and build of waste transfer sites
• External landscape and decorative solutions for architects, heritage sites and those who require external design solutions for external environment.

Design and Build

Our design and build capabilities have built a solid reputation in the Waste Transfer and Management Sector. Successfully working on a range of different projects and for customers such as Veolia and for SITA, Colas have constructed Waste Recycling Centres and associated facilities throughout theUK.

Some our recent contracts include our new contract with Veolia ES for their site at Pebsham in East Sussex where we will create a new household waste recycling centre alongside an existing waste transfer station. We have also secured another contract in Leatherhead for SITA Surrey to build a new 800m² waste transfer building with adjoining household waste recycling centre and external weighbridges and offices.

Our ability to complete design and build contracts and also construct and refurbish the surrounding infrastructure including, drainage, car parks, external lighting, footpaths and leading roads make us the ideal service provider for these projects.

External Landscaping

Our portfolio of customers includes; Sustrans, British Waterways, The National Gallery in London, The National Trust, Heritage Sites such as Hardwick Hall, Aston Hall and Tatton Park, Eden Court, Sage Headquarters in Newcastle and the Modern Tate Museum.

For each we use attractive and dynamic design specifications to create safe, harmonised and enjoyable external environments for local communities and visitors. Our services bring together a combination of materials, carefully selected to harmonise with the surrounding environment and designed to meet the requirements of the different site conditions.

We also use enhanced and dramatic exterior lighting to help to provide discrete lighting which accentuates the surrounding area.

Airport Owners and Operators

Our extensive and growing airfields division has over recent years undertaken a range of different projects forManchesterAirport,LondonSouthendAirport,Isle of ManRonaldswayAirport,JerseyAirport,BlackpoolAirport, Duxford Airfield, and finally works at Tiree andSumburghAirportson behalf of theHighlandsand Islands Airports Ltd.

Working with each Colas have developed a thorough understanding of airport operators concerns and the challenges they face when embarking on any airfield projects or maintenance. The more concerning challenges being the safety of passengers and staff and flight delays or disruptions to routine flight schedules.

Our experience of working with this sector has led to the development of many operational techniques; tools and approaches which help safeguard against these challenges and prevent such risks from occurring.
