Colas have worked on a wide variety of military and
civil airport projects in the UK and overseas including the
supply and operation of mobile asphalt plants at Jersey, and for
the Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd at Islay and Sumburgh.
Our airports team have worked independently and alongside
industry contractors and consultants to deliver both full
reconstruction major projects and minor maintenance works. An
innovator in the construction and maintenance of airfields we have
worked with a diverse range of airfield customers. For each of our
customers the focus has been on the safe delivery of innovative and
sustainable solutions.
Over recent years we have worked to deliver and meet the project
requirements for civil, military and privately owned airports using
a combination of our high profile materials and application
techniques.
Airport Owners and Operators
Our extensive and growing airports division has over recent
years undertaken a range of different projects for Manchester
Airport, London Southend Airport, Isle of Man Ronaldsway Airport,
Jersey Airport, Blackpool Airport, Duxford Airfield, and works at
Tiree and Sumburgh Airports on behalf of the Highlands and Islands
Airports Ltd.
Working with each Colas have developed a thorough understanding
of airport operators concerns and the challenges they face when
embarking on any airport projects or maintenance. The more
concerning challenges being the safety of passengers and staff and
flight delays or disruptions to routine flight schedules.
Our experience of working with this sector has led to the
development of many operational techniques; tools and approaches
which help safeguard against these challenges and prevent such
risks from occurring.
MoD Defence Estates
Colas is currently engaged as the term maintenance contractor at
a number of UK airfields and for the MoD Defence Estates (DE)
Regional Prime Contracts, covering MoD locations in the South West,
South East and Eastern regions. Our teams are familiar with the
requirements of DE and Civil Aviation Authority regulatory
documents and fully understand the controls to be implemented,
followed and monitored.
