Surface Dressing Binders
Colas manufactures a wide range of standard and high performance surface dressing binders. It is recommended that you contact us for advice before deciding which binder is suitable for your particular application.
Premium 80 is a high polymer content bitumen emulsion binder having good initial "grab" with early coalescence and mosaic development. Particularly suited to difficult and high stress sites, it has a high softening point making it resistant to "fatting up" and "brittle failure".
Prinmuls Lite (LMP90X) is a polymer modified, quick breaking, cationic road emulsion with a high binder content. It is designed for higher stress roads.
Surfix 80S is a warm applied polymer modified bitumen emulsion designed for high speed roads. Excellent adhesion is obtained with damp, uncoated chippings. This binder is tolerant to cool conditions early in the season, particularly when used with Colas' unique rapid breaking system, Emulcol.
Surfix is a warm applied cationic bitumen emulsion to BS 434-1: 1984 Class K1-70. An integral part of the composition of Surfix is the inclusion of adhesion agents that remain in the bitumen film after the emulsion has broken. Consequently Surfix can be used in damp weather and with almost all known varieties of clean chippings.
