Footway Maintenance

Worn and uneven footways are a sensitive issue with the general public.  Colas offers a comprehensive range of treatments to refurbish footways and improve their appearance.

 Footway Retread
The existing footway is scarified to a depth of between 50 and 75mm with a mini cold planer. Unsuitable material and items in excess of 75mm are removed. If required, isolated soft spots are replaced with graded limestone or similar. Scarified material is shaped and graded by hand and any excess material removed to allow for a 20mm wearing course.
Colas Retread 'C' Bitumen Emulsion is applied by bulk sprayer and the surface consolidated by roller. Limestone aggregate is applied lightly to the surface of the completed footway, which is then rolled again. Tack coat is applied before surfacing with 20mm of specified footpath wearing course to complete the process.

Footway Slurry

Pavecoat is a cold applied, polymer modified, fibre reinforced slurry.  Its controlled flow properties allow the surface to be profiled to fine tolerances regardless of existing contours. Pavecoat is ideal for residential and urban areas where there is a requirement for a longer lasting and more durable surface than provided by conventional slurry surfacing methods.

Paveseal is a premium, fibre reinforced slurry surfacing suitable for sites which require regulation but where the surface deterioration is not so great as to require treatment with Pavecoat.

Bitutex FP is a rapid setting, cold, hand applied slurry seal consisting of a blend of bitumen emulsion and aggregate.

Fibredec

Fibredec consists of a matrix of chopped glass fibres between two layers of bitumen emulsion.  The surface is immediately dressed with aggregate.  The glass fibres, which are chopped in situ by specially designed applicator vehicles, give tensile strength to the surface and resist cracking.
