Microasphalt surfacing
Ralumac
Closely associated with the introduction of microasphalt surfacing to the UK, Colas have continued to develop and refine the material under the brand name Ralumac. Developed in Germany in the 1960s and now one of the most versatile road maintenance materials available to the highway engineer, Ralumac is a polymer modified, cold mix paving system that can remedy problems such as wheel track rutting, fretting at the edges of the road and surface deformation.
Colas Ralumac is applied by specialist machines which carry all the materials, mix them and then spread them on to the road surface. In this way disruption is kept to the minimum. The original Ralumac 1000, developed in Germany, is still available, but with Ralumac 2000 Colas is offering a "state of the art" material with good riding quality, a high resistance to rutting and low noise characteristics. It is suitable for heavily trafficked roads, busy urban thoroughfares, rural lanes, housing estates, residential streets, roundabouts and motorway hard shoulders. Ralumac is a cold applied, environmentally friendly process, with no harmful emissions. The finished surface has low noise characteristics, a pleasing appearance and good riding qualities. The inherently efficient process reduces site occupation time.
Bitutex
This controlled setting, machine applied, thin slurry surfacing, restores skid resistance and adheres to most surfaces. Bitutex is a cationic slurry laid to BS918. It provides a dense, sealed surface as an alternative to surface dressing or as a pad coat.
Bitumac
Bitumac is a cold applied, polymer modified, dense graded road surface treatment that is more durable than conventional thin slurries
