RoSPA 2014 Occupational Health and Safety Gold Medal

Colas' Health and Safety team was presented with a RoSPA Gold achievement award for Occupational Health and Safety. This accolade is another addition to a long line of RoSPA awards won by Colas over previous years and is testament to the hard work and dedication of the team.

RoSPA Gold award winners must all achieve a very high level of performance and demonstrate well developed occupational health and safety management systems and culture as well as outstanding control of risk and very low levels of error, harm and loss.

David Rawlins, RoSPA's awards manager, said: "The RoSPA Awards encourage the raising of occupational health and safety standards across the board. Organisations that gain recognition for their health and safety management systems, such as Colas, contribute to a collective raising of the bar for other organisations to aspire to, and we offer them our congratulations."

The Gold Medal award in the prestigious annual scheme run by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) was presented during a ceremony at ExCeL London on June 17.

RoSPA 2014 MORR Gold Award

These awards are presented in more than 20 industry sectors, and they also recognise excellence in specialist areas, such as the management of occupational road risk (MORR).

Graham Stanton, Associate Director & Company Secretary, said: "The MORR Award award recognises the management of occupational road risk. This is the seventh consecutive year (since the company submitted its first entry for the MORR award) that Colas has received a Gold Award, which is testimony to the continuing excellence of our SAID campaign."

Prince Michael International Road Safety Award

The Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards recognise achievements and innovations which will improve road safety. Presented by His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent, the award recognised recent work with the freight transport industry on the ‘No Strikes Impact Protection Vehicles (IPV)’ education initiative. Representatives from A-one+ and Colas joined over 300 guests and other award winners.

Commenting on the initiative the judges described the No Strikes initiative as “world class”. No Strikes has also been short-listed for the ‘Best Customer Service Co-Creation/Collaboration’ Award.
