Health & Safety
The Safety of the public and every Colas employee is our first priority:
- we must minimise risk in all of our activities
- everyone must have clear roles and responsibilities for safety
- unsafe working practices must be identified and corrected
- all incidents must be investigated and addressed
- our goal is zero incidents
our safety management system, in accordance with HSG 65, is designed to assist everyone in achieving our safety imperatives.
Our safety record within the construction and allied industry is excellent and has been recognised with seven RoSPA gold and two RoSPA silver safety awards.
In 2002 we started our Safer Attitudes in Driving (SAID) campaign targeting all drivers within the company, whether driving company or private vehicles. SAID supports our objective of making highways a safer environment for our people and for the general public and also addresses Health & Safety Executive issues concerning driving while at work.
